The Broken Islands are a Vancouver, Canada based quintet who meld elements of post-rock, shoegaze, post-punk, trip-hop and dark wave to create their own distinct sound. With crashing guitars and moody synthesizers weaving around swooning, siren-like vocals, the band’s songs can sound at times like an otherworldly sonic experience.

A well-received debut album entitled ‘Wars’ was released in the autumn of 2017, with the follow up album ‘Masquerade’ released in February 2020. Their third album is slated for 2024, with the first single “Tempest” released in conjunction with appearances at UK festivals The Great Escape and Portals. Recorded in Vancouver BC and Cornwall England, the new album sees the band moving towards a heavier and more complex sound full of syncopation and odd time signatures paired with The Broken Islands brand of crashing guitars and intricate vocals.

The band has successfully toured the UK three times since that first album making appearances at festival heavyweights such as Liverpool Sound City, Khatsalano (Vancouver), NXNE (Toronto), The Great Escape and Portals. A very successful show supporting ‘CASPIAN’ in Vancouver provided the band an opportunity to win their audience and cement their position in the genre.

Like its predecessors, the new untitled third album has been produced and mixed by Dave ‘Rave’ Ogilvie, who is best known for his work with industrial music titans such as Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and Skinny Puppy and was the perfect choice to harness the many influences that constitute the sound of The Broken Islands.
